We enjoyed the journey on the way to and from the Routeburn Track.
Routeburn Foreshadowed and Fulfilled
We initially took a day hike to Key Summit on the Routeburn Track. About ten days later Tevka, Torin and I set off again and walked the full route. Thanks to our driver Todd for delivering and picking us up at the end...despite the dinner surprise.
Doubtful Sound day-trip
We took a twelve-hour tour to Doubtful Sound on a beautiful, sunny day and got the bonus of watching a top-notch movie about New Zealand dreamer and do-er Burt Munro.

A Jetstar flight from Wellington to Queenstown enabled our transition from the North Island to the South Island of New Zealand.

Our time in Wellington was enhanced by two gracious homestays - one night with a family from the U.S. and two nights with our first-ever Couchsurfing hosts.
