Torin and Tevka each ranked skydiving as their #1 experience in New Zealand. According to Tevka - "The coolest thing I've ever done!"
Salisbury Splash
A short and sweet reflection on a swimming hole we frolicked in near Salisbury Falls.
The Heaphy Track
We enjoyed beautiful sunshine and varied terrain as we hiked the 49-mile Heaphy Track from west to east.
On to the Next Adventure
We visited several grocery stores and a few quaint towns on the 5-hour drive from Kaikoura to Westport. Todd would soon drive back across the country one more time to meet us on the other end of the Heaphy Track!
Kaikoura – Seals, Seascapes & Seafood
We had a blast - of gale-force wind - in Kaikoura. Beautiful views of seascapes and seals, plus tasty seafood rounded out our 2-day stay.
Pohatu Penguins
Sea kayaking to see little blue penguins was our last excursion on the Banks Peninsula near Akaroa.
The Giant’s House
Josie Martin's lush gardens and mosaic sculptures at The Giant's House are whimsically wonderful and insanely imaginative.
A Peninsula in a Peninsula
Tevka, Torin & I hiked and snatched shells from the shoreline of Ōnawe Peninsula - a small promontory within Akaroa Harbor and the much larger Banks Peninsula.
Akaroa Oasis
Our last Workaway stay was a real treat. Thanks to Odhran & Joan for such wonderful hospitality!
Passing through Oamaru
A homey AirBnB cottage in Kakanui as well as a stroll through Steampunk Oamaru filled our time between Dunedin and Akaroa.
