After something like 36 hours of travel, we finally landed in New Zealand, cleared customs, got some local currency, and bought a starter pack of Spark cell service – two months for two of our phones. We are connected!

We found our way to the North Shore/Albany/Browns Bay area of Auckland via SkyBus service.
We found a shopping mall and caught an example of Christmas in the southern hemisphere.

We bought some groceries and then took a cab the rest of the way to our first night’s lodging. Harbour View Guesthouse suited us well, even though our basement room didn’t have the fabulous view of Browns Bay that the house owner “Annie” and any upstairs guests would see.

We enjoyed comfy beds, (including bunk beds for the girls – ideal, they decided), warm showers, and a kitchen so we could make breakfast before the girls’ first SCUBA lesson.

Fun to read yours and Tor’s versions of the day.
